A Tiny Biny Progress
Done cutting both the Aluminium Sheet & Craft Foam for the Left Vambraces. Now gonna draw the Right ones and cut out the pieces.
Just a reminder to self:
Trace and Cut the Aluminium version of the pieces before doing the Craft Foam ones. It's very hard to cut the Aluminium one along the curves with a normal scissors and its final shape is slightly different from the template. So better to have the Craft Foam shaped exactly like the Aluminium ones.
Must also remember to print out Penwiper's Templates when I get back from work on Wed (am off today and tomolo) so I can make the other parts. Am using hers to make my Chest Armor (since the pieces are full-sized), Hip Armors and maybe Shoulder Bells. Am doing the same thing for the Shoulder Bells; Aluminium Sheet with Craft Foam on top. For the Hip Armors, I initially thot of using just Craft Foam but the only craft foams available here are bloody soft so I might reconsider. The Chest Armor, after seeing someone's progress (I can't remember who), am combinding Paper Mache and Rigid Wrap (since I got 1 pack left). Will see how successful it will be, unless Xeno really can make that part for me.
Oh! The Simplicty 4942 had arrived today from Katie in USA. \/^__^ Had looked through and I'll have to do a mock-up or 2 to fit the "Cape" from the "Legolas" to my size and shape. Then, may need to make one for Nessa to make sure she become one of us and maybe even the base for Xeno. Thank you so much, Katie! ^__^ I own you one! -__^
And I forget to say, just as I suspected, Xeno is using the Gold Fabric for his Scale Skirt so I'm doing the same. Gotten the fabric from Chinatown on Wed and will start tracing and cutting the pieces later today or tomolo. Think I'll just stick with Stephanie's scales measurements as it will means less pieces to cut and sew, tho' the actual is closer to the one she used for her Neck/Chest Guard (it's about my pointer finger nail size in the photo I took of the one at the LOTR Exhibition with my finger rite on top of it). Will see how well it works....
But I'm not sure what to use as the base. From the photo I took of the underside of the Scale Skirt, it's some kind of rough, stiff fabric. Hmmm.....maybe I'll look through Chinatown or Arab Street next Mon to look for an alternative.
What? Post those photos these? Nah, this blog is still foundable online so I better not risk it and get my head roll instead. -__^
